NY Times article on Newsweek error

Link
Newsweek has made a terrible error in falsely reporting desecration of the Koran. They have rescinded the article and admitted their error. However, it is worth reading the article by the NY Times today on the Administration's reaction and lack of accountability for its part in prisoner abuse scandals in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Opinion article's title is, "A Sudden Taste For Openness" and can be accessed at http://www.nytimes.com/

After you put a nail in a door, you can take it out, but the hole remains. The harm is already done, it's a little late for them to apologise.

Who'll bring back to life the people who died in the clashes because of these false news?

To: gebeleizis: I totally agree. It was an unforgivable action and more should be done by them. I also think that the prisoner abuse scandals, which are unfortunately true, have damaged this country so much it is easy to conceive that maybe the Newsweek story was true. We need better reporting and standards within the press that require a threshold that is higher.

Thanks for your comments.
