Louisiana needs a new Governor

Link
I have heard enough now to conclude that Governor Blanco of LA, a Democrat, has managed this crisis incompetently. No sense piling on with all the details but she needs to be replaced and held accountable.

Charles: I’m in Texas today on business. Tonight I ran into a guy named Bubba. I had a long talk with Bubba that I think tells a lot about the present political state. Bubba comes from a town more or less north of Dallas. He has lived most of his life in Texas. He owns a construction business and has worked in the fuel industry. Bubba is a red-state Republican. He loves the fact the George Bush is a born-again Christian. He thinks Bush did a good job after 9-11. He also admires our effort in Iraq, noting that after the initial invasion, the military engaged in relief efforts there. (He’s not so sure Bush’s advisors did a good job in the run-up to the invasion.) But Bubba cannot forgive George Bush for his response to New Orleans. (He did not have a good word for Blanco or Nagel, either.) He thinks the government should have extended relief efforts immediately to the disaster there. Bubba observes that both he and Bush watched the same crisis unfold on television. Why weren’t there boats crawling all over the area to rescue people? Hell, he would have shown up with water, if that’s what people needed. Why weren’t helicopters delivering aid? The president’s first responsibility is to protect Americans, regardless of their color, and Bush failed in this, Bubba said. Clinton would have dong to get a read. So I am going to try this way first, and if nothing shakes out, will send to maybe 10 contests around the first of the year.to try this way first, and if nothing shakes out, will send to maybe 10 contests around the first of the year.

To continue:
This was particularly outrageous because Bush comes from as state that borders Louisiana, so he should have more sympathy. Bush should resign, Bubba said. The real response came from We The People, said Bubba. He, himself, wrote out a check himself for several hundred dollars for disaster relief..
• In June of 2001 Paul Wolfowitz gave a speech to the cadets graduating from West Point. Referring to Pearl Harbor, he said that the cadets should be on guard for surprises. He said, “Very few of these surprises are the product of simple blindness or simple stupidity. Almost always there have been warnings and signals that have been missed.” This was true on September 11, when Bush rose to the occasion. It was also true on August 31, 2005, when he didn’t.\
