Charles, Geithner defended the administration well, and in the face of mostly rude and politically based attacks. However, the one good point made by the Republican is that Geithner was NY Fed President - although he did not explain how the Fed might have attempted to rein in derivatives trading or investigate possible collusion between the Rating Agencies (S&P and Moody's, basically, but others as well) who were giving AAA ratings to xxx products. Brady notes that "Libruls" are also critical, but we are mostly critical for opposite reasons than Conservatives - We feel the bailout was too kind to the bad guys, and that the stimulus was too small. Geithner could also have noted that the stimulus was weakened by Republicans, who forced money that was going to help the states keep services and jobs intact and transferring it to pretty useless tax cuts. Krugman, as you know, has been saying from the start that the stimulus was too small - and I believe so has Stiglitz.
All in all, Geithner, of whom I'm no fan, comes off much better than Brady, here, I think.
