Lieberman's speech for McCain and against Obama

Whatever your politic, Republican guests on CNBC's Chris Matthews segment today claim that Sen. Lieberman is as maverick as John McCain and that both put Country over Party and politic. I think that statement is true in part for John McCain but not Joe Lieberman. Joe puts the State of Israel above the United States every time there is a choice. That is Lieberman's reason for supporting McCain and the only reason.

I have a friend that wrote me about this post on Lieberman. I think it deserves to be posted and so I have will only personal words edited:

Hi Charles:

It is funny! Last Tuesday I was talking to (your wife) how rumors get started sometimes without base, or based on the wrong conclusions and those statements may bran people for ever, or they are very difficult to change. I have gone through this myself on a few occasions that is why I am sensitive to it and I am writing this to you. So do not take it personally and we can discuss it later when we get together. It is a constructive comment.

I am referring to your remarks on Senator Lieberman. By the way, you already have somebody that agrees with you in your blog and is relieved that he was not elected.

I had not read your blog, which I enjoy a lot, for several days and with some surprise I read that, in your view, Senator Lieberman is not only a traitor but he may be an Israeli spy. Your insinuations are, in my mind difficult to believe. I guess you do not like the guy and that is fine. I do not like the guy either, for different reasons, but innuendos like the ones you posted, are the ones the extreme right, not a social liberal like you, uses to discredit somebody. You must have proof to the those “facts” and I would really like to see those. Half of the senate wants to bomb the hell out of Iran, and also do the possible future president and vice-president of the USA, God forbid it! Does it mean that all of them are traitors, Israeli spies or worst, they have succumbed to the powerful Jewish lobby? No, but since Lieberman is Jewish, he must be..... Could they be thinking, for the selfish good of the USA, that it is necessary to protect Israel before it is destroyed in one nuclear event because of strategic reasons? Or because some of the great advances of technology (military and other) and science are developed in Israel and the USA benefit greatly from that? Are these crazy ideas?

In another writing, you stated that the price of gas went through the roof because Israel threatened to bomb Iran. You could have also postulated that the oil companies and the speculators, just to make money, took advantage of that possibility like of many others to raise the price, but no, you chose the first one. Did the Jews also destroyed the New York towers as all our Muslim “friends” have stated? If you read their newspapers and listen to their clerics you will believe that, as over a billion Muslims do. During the Black Death Plague in Europe, since very few Jews died of it, the Church inferred that they were the cause of the plague. Hundred of thousands of Jews were killed by the mobs because of it. They did not stop to think that dietary laws, clean homes and cleaning (ritual bath once a week) was the actual fact that prevented black death among the Jews. It was much easier to blame the plague on the Jews to direct the rage of the masses and avoid confrontations. See what I am getting at? I can infer, based on the previous points you made about Lieberman and Israel, that you are a bigot and an anti-semite. I can postulate that the only reason you do not like Lieberman is because he is Jewish and you blame Israel, as many others do, for anything that goes wrong in this world. If I do that, I would certainly be wrong, because I know that you are neither a bigot nor an anti-semite, but if I publish that in some blog as a fact, it will certainly be a bad, bad deed isn’t it?

Sorry Charlie. I think that on these issues, in my opinion, you are way off unless you prove me wrong. I told you that I do not like Senator Lieberman, but in this case I am taking his defense just on an balanced judgement. Furthermore, I did not write this down in your blog for obvious reasons. I hope that you will provide me the actual facts to back up your statements about Senator Lieberman and Israel. If not, I would really like to see a clarification and retraction in your blog regarding these two issues. If I am wrong so be it, and Lieberman should go to jail for spying for Israel. I will not cry for him.

To my friend in response:

First response to clarify m statement, I am not a bigot. I love all people of all countries and races. You have not known me for many years but those that have know this to be true.

Secondly, if I were able to "prove it" I would have. All I know is what Sen. Lieberman's actions imply, not to the masses, but to me. I am a friend of the Israeli people, the Palestinian people and people of any nation in the world.

What most angered me about Lieberman was his supportive comments to John McCain when John McCain was trying to be funny and used the words to a song with a slight modification, "Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran." This is not in U.S Interest nor world interests and it got me angry. That is the last thing we need to do is to start a war with Iran. I did not make this clear in my original post nor in the update. For that I apologize. But Joe is to quick to want to use military action against Iran and any nation in the Middle East. This may be in the interests of Israel but it is not in U.S. interests. The truth is that it is not in the best interests of Israel as well.
