President Bush deliberately misleads us again on Iran

I saw excerpts from Bush's News conference yesterday as Chris Matthews of Hardball was focusing on the National Intelligence report over Iran and that they posed no immediate threat to us. Chris had Sen. Joe Biden react to the President's news conference remarks. Most of the media was "surprised" how Bush doesn't see any change in his policy as a result of the findings in the report that Iran had stopped its Nuclear program back in 2003. This assessment was the summary of 16 Intelligence agencies of our government. Bush was in his usual State of Denial. It is him in his most familiar and comfortable role. We should not be surprised at all. Instead we should realize who we elected as President and not make that mistake again or next time we may never recover.

Senator Biden was terrific and serious as Chris asked him about his recent comments about impeachment of the President if he attacked Iran. He stood by his comments, as he said, the President's power does not extend to invading a country without authorization from Congress and that he would lead the charge for impeachment.

I don't understand why Senator Biden hasn't had better traction with voters in this Primary Season. He knows Foreign policy better than any candidate running for President. He is also a Constitutional expert, as he teaches classes on Constitutional law.

UPDATE: Frank Rich, NY Times, says casualty numbers manipulated during Chris Matthews "Hardball" show.

Frank Rich, NY Times reporter, was on Chris Matthews last night. He is sharp and willing to write the truth, as he has done many times. What pleased me yesterday about MSNBC's Hardball was that for the first time Rich said that the Administration is playing with the numbers for both U.S. and Iraqi casualties and they have been for some time.

This issue for me has been the subject of several of my posts in the past 4 months. It was encouraging to hear the same from Frank Rich's mouth. Now, if we can get them to print an article on the topic, we might raise more awareness as to the lengths this Administration is willing to go to twist the facts and lie about conditions in this war of choice in Iraq. When the transcript for Hardball comes out tonight I will update this post with his actual comments. Stay tuned.

UPDATE Sept.6th.

As promised above, here is the text from yesterday's Chris Matthews Hardball show where Frank Rich is answering a question from Chris.

RICH: Well, I agree with you (Chris). Part of it is there‘s not enough fact checking by the press. There‘s so many erroneous statements being thrown out there, including right now about what‘s going on with casualties in Iraq, both American and civilian. Very little of it is fact checked. It becomes a cloud of sort of disinformation, and that‘s been true since the hyping of the WMDs before we went in.

What is VP Cheney's game plan in the Scooter Libby trial? My predictions..

That is the question of the day. I have written extensively on Cheney's arrogance and chutzpah. How does he plan to deal with Prosecutors in this trial? My belief is that his strategy is not to have Scooter Libby be the fall guy, as has been mentioned already in the press. However, what has not been written is how does he plan to do this given he is going to testify on Libby's behalf. I believe that Cheney himself, will take the hit for Libby including admitting to any possible violations of the law regarding disclosing Classified information, as he plans to get a pardon from President Bush, for all possible crimes he may be charged with, before he leaves office. Watch this unfold and remember you read it first here. Only a person of this level of arrogance would be this way without first securing a promised pardon from the President.

I think we owe Chris Mathews of MSNBC's Hardball, a debt of gratitude, for initiating the questions about the State of the Union claims by the President that Iraq was pursuing yellow cake uranium from Niger. Cheney knew it was a bogus claim but wanted it that way. Those unanswered questions , instigated by Chris, occupied the attention of Cheney to the point where he personally managed the project to discredit Wilson and tried to manage the media through his chief of staff Scooter Libby and others. Cheney wanted to see the transcripts of Chris's show each day on this topic as he was obsessed according to yesterday's court proceedings.

Thanks so much Chris. Keep up the pressure. We need answers and accountability!
