Republicans criticize Obama's, yet to be announced, recovery plan

Has the politic changed in Washington with our new President Obama having taken office? Unfortunately, no, it hasn't. Critics are lining up and speaking of how spending is not the way out of this economic mess. Where were they the last 8 years. It seems to me they need some medicine to help them see the light. I know exactly what is a required in a medicine for this group of skeptics. You see what we have had with Obama has been "hope" and while there have been naysayers these past 2 years on his road to the White House, even within his own Democratic party, there is one cure to their skepticism. What is that medicine? FEAR!

It seems that the "hope" brought in by his election allowed the naysayers to gather strength and now seem to have their voices back. A good dose of fear is due again to get them back in line and to get back onboard to the change needed. When there was a run on the Banks, people were very scared. They hoped even the Bush Administration would do something to fix the problem, anything. Well Paulson and Bernake started to do what they could to stemming the panic. No one was telling them to stop. The naysayers wanted even more done without even thinking about any consequences. We now find ourselves a long way from that moment.

But we do need a dose of FEAR again because we have to marshall now a Nation to do the right thing and to once again "trust" our new leaders and ourselves that, "Yes We Can," do the right thing. I know it's a lot to ask of politicians this "trust" thing. It's a lot to ask of politicians to allow a different way of doing things gain their acceptance. I know it's a lot to ask of politicians to allow a contrary viewpoint by a new President to get their vote, but they must! Fear is our friend right now and is Obama's key ally in this process of change to move swiftly. He needs to allow for it to express itself and then to seize the moment.

I'll trust the American people any day. Would you?

The Presidential candidates are all giving us their "line", hoping we'll nibble at least, and possibly, get hooked on them. But what I noticed is that they all sound the same. Each chooses which particular special interest issue is the bait for us and then they give us their "line". Of course we disagree with each of them on many other issues, where we haven't fallen for the bait. But they keep putting that same bait out there hoping to drag us along to the primaries and then the General election next November. The Republicans use these as bait; reduced taxes, pro-life, against gay marriage and a strong military. The Democrats use: tax the rich, pro-choice, anti-discriminatory practices regarding gay marriages, and more recently, a path to citizenship for undocumented workers.

On the other side, you have all the elected officials, Republican and Democrats alike, and the American public, that totally disagree with this President/ Vice President and Administration on a number of issues. We all can't wait for their departure from office, back into their non-reality world. Where the only help for them is therapy or AA, and where they learn to embrace the 1st step of the 12 step process; Denial.

President Bush says, "I'm the Decider! I don't follow the polls". Cheney says, We can't make decisions based upon some poll, we have to do what's best for America!" I say, why not? If we are a true democracy, shouldn't government be representative government of "all" the people not just "business leaders"? If polls were done with a large sample of Americans and truly representative with statistical accuracy, why should major questions and issues be put before the American people to decide?

Seems to me that if you take ALL the pools on the war, the American people have spoken loud and clear. They say get out NOW! It isn't even close now with 70% of the poll results showing the vast majority of people want out of Iraq sooner rather than later. And yet neither party is willing to follow the input and wishes of their constituency. We do not have representative government that works any longer. Maybe we should it more along the lines of American Idol and have people vote by phone and elected officials must comply with the result? It can't be much worse than what we have now. Even adding a third party will not work as the leader will need to get support from the other 2 parties which won't be so inclined to support them.

It's not the only issue Americans agree. More than 75% of Americans want our Borders secure first before deciding anything about the 12-20 undocumented (illegal) immigrants here. Same is true about keeping the government out of our bedrooms and out of our life or death decisions we are faced with our elderly parents. Also true, we agree that if this were a war we had to win, we would be willing to have shared sacrifice. We also agree that the rich should pay more share of the taxes. We agree we want to preserve Social Security and Medicare Prescription Drug benefits but that the government should be able to negotiate for better prices to get a large discount, especially for seniors. And we agree everyone should be covered by Universal Healthcare coverage and not be denied care. My friends we could decided some things and move along the process of stalemate in Washington.

Seriously though, we need to consider this problem as informed citizens and be willing to make proposals that could get the lobbyists and special interest groups out of the process. I'm really open for some good creative thinking here. Have you got any good ideas to share? Leave a comment if you do.

Bush's experience taught him only one thing- How to be a failure and disappointment!

The only thing this President seems to have learned from his past is how to create bankruptcy conditions.

1) He bankrupt his Oil company. From the lessons learned he started in his Presidency to create the same for the Nation by the following:

2) His is bankrupting our Country with debt
3) He has bankrupt our Military - both equipment wise and manpower strength
4) He has bankrupt our Freedoms with such actions as eavesdropping on phone conversations of any American without FISA Court approval, signing statements which defy laws he has signed into law and other Unconstitutional acts.
5) He has bankrupt our Trust in oversight with a Republican led Congress that turned their head away at his choices, while they held their noses from the stench.
6) He has bankrupt our Trust in a fair Judicial system, by appointing Justices that will approve of his antics and rewrite history as far as settled law.
7) He has bankrupt the Vision for millions of people around the world who thought of the USA as a place of Hope and replaced that Vision as a country of arrogance and spite for our friends as well as our enemies.
8) He has bankrupt the use of Diplomacy, as no country believes him nor trusts him anymore. We are mostly alone in the world now. Colin Powell's speech will go down in history as how the US distorted truth for the self interest of a few of its leaders; the President and the Vice President.
9) He has bankrupt our willingness to be eager for the words of our President, when he gives a speech or an address, to the Nation. We are weary of his lies and twisted truth to us.
10) He has bankrupt and shattered the idea of our President being a Statesman because of his intellect and pursuit of noble causes to help the poor of the world and in stopping wars and promoting peace in the world.

Need I go on! Shame, shame, shame Mr. President. We need a “Tough Love” intervention called IMPEACHMENT.

TRUST- Once broken can never be restored as before

I did a study many years ago on the topic of Trust.

There are 3 kinds of Trust.
Assumed Trust which is freely given by an individual,
Earned Trust and
Broken Trust

What I learned, after interviewing hundreds and hundreds of people, was not surprising. Trust that had been earned but then broken, was never ever regained back to previous levels of trust.

Once trust is earned it is a precious gift between people. Sometimes, there is a fragile moment between people when trust is in doubt, because of some unfufilled promise or something another did that rasies a flag with the other. That moment starts to bring into question whether there has been a breach of trust. If the individual experiencing a loss of trust, can question the other party and the questions are respected and dealt with in a serious, honest manner, then the trust can be saved and not broken. But if the questions are brushed off, ignored, dismissed as intrusive, or dealt with in a less than candid, honest way, then the party feeling now harmed, may indeed confirm that view and distant themselves from the other.

So what does this topic have with a political Blog? Trust has been broken with the American people by President Bush, Vice President Cheney, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, and the Attorney General, Alberto Gonzales, and this has spilled over now to those heading up all the agencies like Homeland Security, Energy Dept., CIA, FBI, the Pentagon, the NSA, the State Dept., FEMA, the Dept. of Health and Human Services and last but not least this Republican led Congress. Trust has been broken now and that is why the Republican base is rebelling. They know what is in store for them. We have come to the point where we don't believe a thing they are saying, do we? If they had been open and honest in a forthright manner with us from the very beginning, more would have been loyal. But we have been betrayed and, while it has taken 5 plus years, we are all simmering with anger for the betrayal. We know our day to vote is coming and the Silent Majority will be heard once again, this time we will make previous landslides look like like a close race. Remember the reasons why; it's all about TRUST and the lack of it, BROKEN TRUST to be specific.
