Net Neutrality made simple to understand
I watched Bill Moyers PBS Special last night on Net Neutrality and was convinced many people don't understand the topic nor what is at stake. I have posted, in my margin, a link to Save the Internet, so more can support this precious asset, the Internet. See Bill Moyers video clip by clicking here and clicking on WATCH "THE NET @ RISK where you learn in plain language how the telephone companies and cable companies are working to be a roadblock to the internet for their own profits. It will change our very democracy. Luckily, my 2 Senators, Feinstein and Boxer support Net Neutrality but many Republicans don't. This is an issue where the business interest of a few monopolies must be subservient to the needs of the people and our country, as our very economic growth as a nation is at risk and in many areas because of the Global economy we are losing our leadership role as the creative force in technological advancement. Countries such as Japan have internet speeds using Fiber Optics that are almost 50 times the speed of our current Cable feeds. We are 10th in standing on speed and use of the internet of the world's leading countries. We need to build out the Fiber Optics that telephone companies had promised to get tax breaks but have not delivered on their promises and we find ourselves almost 10 years behind as to where we should be.
This should not be a partisan issue. The engine behind our economy is small business. We need to keep the Internet as a commodity like electricity. No one tells us what we can and can't hook up to our electricity or charge us extra money per month for hooking up a TV or appliance to our electricity. Get involved and find out where your Senator stands after you have seen the Bill Moyers video, by clicking on the link above my clock in the margin to Save The Net.
